Doctor Eufencio Rojas/NarcoQuest/Rojas Press Doctor Eufencio Rojas is a constant presence in the city of Los Angeles. As his story evolves and grows in complexity and nuance, he continues to feed the project Vast Arcade Los Angeles with a sense of the macrocosm, of the peripatetic, of the traversing of unimaginable expanses of territory. He gives the project the language of maps, topography, dreamscape, mass hallucination, large conspiracy and a madness that comes from being all knowing. He claims to control the movements of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa through telepathy he learned from Carlos Castaneda. |
There are two branches in the Rojas world dedicated to getting his message out. NarcoQuest is a yearly lecture tour that goes through the south, stopping at campuses from East Los Angeles College to Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Rojas Press is a publishing company which produces booklets, pamphlets, audio CDs and maps. It's run by Jose Lopez Feliu, who has worked closely as Eufencio's assistant for decades. Text from a NarcoQuest 2004 flyer and a biography: In 1993, a man named Eufencio came to Los Angeles. He began to make a living selling simple objects of cultural interest out of the back of his truck.
